This site, podcast, and ministry exists to help you KNOW, TRUST, APPLY, and TEACH the Bible. These resources are my latest efforts in a lifetime of teaching and writing about my faith in Jesus. The name Bible 805 comes from my belief that the Bible, Jesus, and the Christian faith are as real as the place I live in (area code 805)—Ventura, California.
The website is at www.Bible805.com.
One of the primary ways, to learn to know and trust the Bible is to read through the Bible in Chronological order. I help you do that through blogs, podcasts, videos, and commentary on it throughout the year. This is one of the distinctives of the Bible805 ministry as the chronological order I share comes from my training as a secular historian (MA in History from a secular university). I pursued the degree to find out if I could truly trust the faith I’d been raised with and ended up with a rock-solid confirmation of the truth claims of the Bible. I then went on to do graduate work at a Christian Seminary (more confirmation of the faith I was raised with, doubted for a time and then solidly embraced) and additional graduate work in communications. I briefly taught Church History at a Jesuit university and for decades have taught adult Bible classes in person and online.
All of that has formed a Bible reading plan and classes that I trust are factually accurate and user-friendly.
CLICK HERE to go to a Bible reading schedule, plus blank journal pages and a video and podcast to encourage you to read it in this way. You can start at any time and it is one of the best things you can do to grow in your Christian life or if you are not a Christian to honestly explore what it is about.
In addition to reading through the Bible in Chronological order, the site has content on all the books of the Bible, on various stand-alone and seasonal topics in the Christian faith, plus infographics that explain difficult topics. Check them out at Bible805.com where you’ll find a sidebar of the lessons organized into grouping of topics–it’s quite a bit down the home page and is titled, Category of Topics.
