About

Yvon Prehn, Founder and Director of the Bibleverse Hub and associated ministries Yvon Prehn is the founder and director of Effective Church Communications and of the www.effectivechurchcom.com website,  plus more recently the www.Bible805.com podcast and website, and the Bibleverse Printables Shop, Bibleverse t-shirts and more, and the Effective Church Communications Library.

For over 30 years she taught Bible-based church communication ministry, skills, and strategy at seminars, conferences, and national conventions all over North America, while at the same time teaching Bible classes and working with her bi-vocational pastor husband in various church ministries.

Through most of her adult working life, Yvon has worked in communication ministry as a writer and teacher including working as a newspaper reporter and religion writer for the Colorado Springs SUN for nine years. When desktop publishing was first invented Yvon was a top‐rated, national trainer in desktop publishing for Padgett/Thompson, the nation’s largest one‐day seminar company. She worked as a communications consultant and trainer for numerous Christian ministries in Colorado Springs and was a senior editor at Compassion International and Young Life International.

Yvon is the author of many books, including the first book out on desktop publishing, The Desktop Publishing Remedy, published by David C. Cook in 1994. She has written for many Christian magazines and was the communication columnist for Christian Computing Magazine (now Ministry Tech) for over 20 years.

Yvon has a master’s degree in Church History and has done additional graduate work in theology at Fuller Seminary. She taught high school English and briefly was an adjunct professor in church history at Regis University.

She and her husband Paul now live in Ventura, California. She no longer travels but continues teaching through online courses, podcasts, and writing for Bible805 and Effective Church Communications. In addition, Yvon’s latest projects include the Bibleverse Printables Shop, the Bibleverse t-shirts and more shop, and the Effective Church Communications Library, a family of ministries designed to help you get God’s Word into every part of life.

If you’d like more information on any of Yvon Prehn’s ministries, below is expanded information on them

Yvon Prehn’s links to social media, websites, podcasts, and videos, printables, and eBooks

I have two primary ministries, one in Bible teaching (www.Bible805.com) and one in Church Communications (www.effectivechurchcom.com). Both come together in the Bibleverse shops and this website, but I also periodically create content in a variety of channels in an attempt to meet the needs of people who want to get God’s Word into their lives and to communicate it effectively.

A disclaimer/warning to start.

I wish with all my heart I was different in this—but please be aware that I am notoriously erratic in my posting to any and all of the links below. I live under a continuous cloud of guilt because of this and am always trying to figure out ways to be the consistent sort of blogger, podcaster, social media person that all the advisors on how to be successful in these areas tell you that #1 YOU MUST DO. So far, I’ve consistently failed.

It’s not that I’m lazy or taking time off or ignoring what I need to do or don’t take seriously ministry commitments. At times I post consistently for months at a time. Posting or not, I work seven days a week most of the time (which I know I shouldn’t do and am trying to quit). But then life happens. I’ve had some relatively serious health issues that slowed me down. But more frequently I get focused on in-depth research or a streak of creation on a topic and shut out everything else while I work it.

In addition, truth be told, I don’t like some channels as well as others and don’t post to them asfrequentlyasIprobablyshould;someIdon’tparticipateinatall.

Not that what I like or not, feel called to or not, has any bearing on the validity of that channel for other ministries, but in case you are wondering, here is why I do what I do and below are links to the various channels (completely ignore this if you want).

I really like doing podcasts and training videos (the research slows me down here). I recently made a significant decision to take all my training videos off training school sites where I charged for the classes and make them all free on YouTube. I felt this is what the Lord was directing me to do for many reasons and I am praying that many will be helped by my decision and that I will be able to get the many resources on the sites that I have created. Below are links to the Effective Church Communications and the Bible805 YouTube channels.

I also enjoy writing blogs and editing podcast scripts into books—though this takes significant amounts of time and I tend to have too many projects open at one time in this area.

I don’t do Twitter at all and professional Facebook I add to whenever I’m able. My personal Facebook is private and primarily for relatives and family. I read and participate in a number of church communication Facebook groups and want to do much more than I do on the Effective Church Communications Facebook page. I would eventually like to turn it into a group, but I’d need help on that.

I quite like Instagram when I write my mini-blogs to go with images—that is on my personal Instagram account below and that’s the closest I get to any kind of personal sharing of my thoughts. Pinterest and the ECC Instagram are notification channels as well as channels for additional commentary, background, and more information about topics on the websites. I will be doing much more on them in the future.

Speaking of notification—that is what I use my email lists for primarily. In the emails you will get from me, please note—I do not in any channel, blog, or email participate in any form of affiliate marketing (where I would get money for recommending products or services). I have a lengthy article on the ECC website telling you more than you probably want to know about my view of the pernicious evil this has brought to the web, a view I know that is shared by almost no one but that’s my view of

  1. You can trust for better or worse, what I refer to and recommend is my view alone and not influenced by any money inducement. Please sign up for the emails on the respective websites.

I want to spend much more time on LinkedIn than I do as many of the wonderful people I’ve worked with in the past are on it—more focus is coming on that.

I absolutely LOVE creating printable images that combine Bible verses or inspirational sayings with artwork or interesting typefaces. My life direction was greatly influenced by a little plaque given to me by my grandmother that says, “Only one life will soon be past; Only what’s done for Christ will last.”

I started the printables ministry when I realized how important that little saying was to me and that my printables might influence more people to consider a Biblical viewpoint than my blog sermons or podcasts. Then I realized I can create printables on my laptop while half paying attention to watching TV in the evenings (my husband enjoys TV, I can take or leave it, but I love being with my husband and I don’t want to be a hermit working away in my office all the time). I am obsessed with using my time wisely for the kingdom of God and the hours spent TV watching (good, clean programs of course) bothered me greatly. That is how the Bibleverse Shop was born—I can be sociable and productive!

Though I love creating them, I don’t enjoy the process of putting my printables into the online store which involves creating them in 12 sizes and four formats per image. The condensing and zipping and all the associated work to get them into the necessary formats and uploaded to the store in itself takes time from other projects. Completely different processes are required for the eBooks.

Doing the printables, as well as a desire to share God’s Word in tiny bits as well as lengthy lessons inspired me to create t-shirts and mugs—much more about that in lengthy explanations on the websites, but that resulted in the Bibleverse t-shirts and more shop. Equally important in the creation of these sites is the need to generate income to support the Bible805 and Effective Church Communications ministry. The majority of content in both ministries is free because I felt it needed to be that way for many churches and believers around the world. However, bills must be paid and if you would like and are able to buy printables, mugs, and t-shirts, you will not only get what I trust are encouraging products, but you will be supporting the ministries.

Without further ado and without creating unreasonable expectations on when material will be available to you, here are the links for my various offerings and social media associated with Bible805, Effective Church Communications, and The Bibleverse.
